Announcing the Chakra Workshop, Yoga Nidra Postponed, New Moon
Laurie Tenzer | SEP 5, 2021
First, a reminder that online Yoga Nidra has been rescheduled until Wednesday, September 8 at 7:30 pm. If you rarely have Mondays available, this may be a good opportunity for you to experience Yoga Nidra, a peaceful, stress-relieving, sleep-inducing meditative practice.

Starting Wednesday, September 29 through Wednesday, November 17, I am offering to you an 8-week workshop on the seven main chakras. The first week includes an overview of the chakra system and in the successive weeks, we dive deeply into these areas of the "subtle" body. These workshops will expand upon the information that I've shared with you in previous newsletters and blogs. What you will learn:
Who should take this class?
Anyone looking for personal growth via the mind/body connection.
Purchase the full 8-week package at a 25% discount by registering by 9/28/2021 or opt for the drop-in rate of $37 per workshop. If you are unable to make the time the class is held recordings will be available for one week after the workshop.

On this Labor Day celebrating workers' efforts throughout the year, we also have a new moon. Someone reminded me that in cultures that use the lunar calendar, the month starts at the new moon. It is the reason that, in the Jewish calendar, tonight is the first night of the Jewish new year. Rosh Hashanah literally translates to "head of the year."
The significance of the new moon is that it is a beginning. It is a good time to start fresh. Begin with a new project or program. In the chakra system, the moon is the celestial body associated with the sacral area where we find the abdomen, genitals, and uterus.
In a scientific study, Zemecki (2006) found that that the lunar cycle has an impact on human, fertility, menstruation, and birth rate. If you are a younger woman, it may be the time when your monthly cycle begins.
The new moon may make us turn more inward and give us a desire to get more grounded. It is a time to do some restorative yoga before embarking on that new journey. Here are a few restorative poses to try on your own using plenty of blankets and bolsters.

I will pick up on the Kosha series again next week where we get into the subtle energy body. Stay tuned.
