Crown Chakra, Chakra Workshop Series

Chakras are energy centers that exist in the subtle body. This is the last in a series of discussions on the seven main chakras.
Found at the top of the head, the crown or sahasrara chakra is a culmination of all the chakras. Its color range is violet to white representing the infinite energy that radiates throughout the body. Sahasrara translates to thousandfold. Thus, its symbol contains 1000 lotus petals with the number of 1000 representing infinity. Inside the symbol is a circle that represents the full moon. The sahasrara chakra is where your bliss resides. This chakra concerns your conscious self and the wholeness that can be found somewhere inside there. Yoga Nidra is a perfect practice to find this level of consciousness and bliss.

When balancing your crown chakra, the focus is on the different levels of your consciousness. It is meditation that helps us to focus and balance our consciousness. The best yoga pose for you to focus on consciousness is the one pose that is most comfortable for you. For those who are comfortable in the most traditional meditation pose that would be lotus pose. Easy pose is similar, but as its name states, it is easier to do. A comfortable seated position in a chair is another option as is lying down on a mat or bed. This is a pose which you will maintain for the duration of your meditation practice, so the key here is comfort.
Here are some prompts for finding your best meditation pose.

If you would like to catch up on my previous discussions on the chakras, they are available in the earlier blogs on this website.
Do you want to learn more about the chakras? Are you looking for tools that may help bring balance to your life. This Fall, I will start an 8-week chakra workshop series. I have only scratched the surface of the chakra system in this and previous blogs and newsletters. Each workshop will consist of discussion, a full yoga sequence, and a meditation practice. The workshop series plunges into a lot more detail about the chakras than what I have discussed in this space previously. Each session will be 90 - 120 minutes long. The first workshop will dive deep into the chakra system. In the following seven weeks we will get into the more profound details on individual chakras. Learn how to balance the subtle energy in your being with knowledge about functions, asanas, meditations to help your chakras to balance. Stay tuned here as more details become available.
Our state and county continue to overflow with the Covid-19 Delta variant. As Covid returns to its ways of wreaking havoc on daily living in Florida, many of us are being revisited by higher stress levels. Give yourself a treat tonight and reduce your stress by signing up for 7:30 online yoga nidra. Payment remains on a sliding scale when you sign up online.
This afternoon is the last in the series of OLLI Yoga Nidra classes for 2021. If you are interested in more information, go here.
Please be safe and stay well. If you are feeling really stressed because of this, might I recommend a Yoga Nidra class tonight at 7:30?
