Hurricane Season, Yoga Mat, Yoga Nidra of Awareness

June brings the official start of summer. Here in Florida, that also means being ready for hurricane season. Being sure that we have enough water, non-perishable food, batteries, and more is important to minimize the impact of potential hurricanes and other tropical storms. Here is a preparedness guide from the state that includes what you need in your hurricane kit as well as a lot of other useful information.

I would add a yoga mat to this hurricane kit. Your mat can act as an item to keep you dry. Even more importantly, to me should the storm come, the mat is a place to keep you calm during the worst of the storm and its aftermath. The mat is a place where you can feel centered by doing some simple yoga postures, meditation, and breathwork. For example, lying in savasana, resting pose, or in a comfortable seated position on the mat, and focusing on your natural inhalations and exhalations as a meditation can do wonders to keep one calm. The mat can be your sanctuary in all the chaos.

As a society, we continue to awaken more and more from our Covid-19 "hibernation." I now offer in-person private lessons. I am fully vaccinated and if you are too, I am more than happy to come to the site of your choosing and work with you on lessons tailored to your personal needs. I provide an assessment and a personal plan to help improve your well-being via yogic practices. Contact me directly to book an appointment.
Every Monday night at 7:30 ET, I continue to offer yoga nidra. Tonight's online yoga nidra will focus on a journey of growth and awareness. I invite you and a friend to experience what I expect to be a truly wonderful experience at 7:30 pm Eastern. My belief is that yoga nidra is a gift and I encourage you to give the gift of yoga nidra to a friend or family member so they too can experience this wonderful gift. The cost of the class remains on a sliding scale. Register here.
