Loss, Hope & Resilience

“She stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails.”― Elizabeth Edwards

With the devastation of that Hurricane Ian has wrought here in Southwest Florida, it is easy to be horrified as to what has happened. Here, In Venice where we got hit pretty hard, we were not totally devastated like some places south of here. Nevertheless, we were hit and it is easy to see the loss all around us. Some are recovering, while others are still exposed to loss by continued flooding.
With that said, tonight's yoga nidra will be about resilience. That is, coming back from loss and turning loss into a place from which to rebuild.
It is a long hard road, keeping in mind that recovery is a process and resiliency is a part of that process.

In talking with my neighbors and friends, it is obvious that so many have lost something during this time. But many feel lucky that things weren't worse, as do I.
Resilience is the key to our comeback. It takes work to clean up and bounce back.
Right now may be an opportune time for the clean up of both physical and mental well-being. That is, the cleanup of external things as well as the internal things. To counteract that feeling of loss and devastation, invite resilience into your heart.
You may be in a situation where you continue to focus on day-to-day survival. Job one means ensuring you have food, water, safe shelter for survival.
As you recover from the trauma that the storm has wreaked, keep in mind that you are a resilient being. To prove it, think of a situation from which you bounced back in the past. It may not be as severe as this one, but that situation proves that you can bounce back. It takes time to rebuild from devastation. As we recover, invite resilience into your life. And don't forget to breathe!
With that said, yoga nidra meditation tonight will be all about resilience.
